What fund houses are saying.

Chief investment officers of five fund houses spoke at a Business Standard summit on 28 October 2026. Summarised in our words.

Think in asset allocation, not one asset class. Debt has been overlooked in the rush to equities, and long-term money is made by going against the crowd’s flows.

S Naren, CIO, ICICI Prudential Mutual Fund

Indian bonds look attractive at a 10-year yield near 7.5%. Don’t chase whatever market or metal has run up the most in recent years.

R Sivakumar, CIO, Axis Mutual Fund

Technology, consumer businesses, private banks and insurers offer opportunity after weak runs. More cautious on capital markets, defence and capital goods, where expectations look priced in.

Harish Krishnan, CIO Equity, Aditya Birla Sun Life Mutual Fund

Build a mix across large, mid and small companies and between growth and value. Decisions made only on the headline index lead to wrong outcomes.

Taher Badshah, President and CIO, Invesco Mutual Fund

Our take

We agree with the common thread: don’t abandon a plan because the last year was flat, don’t chase last year’s winners, and give debt a real role. That’s why Balanced now carries 25% in short-term debt, gold stays capped at a fixed slice, and our bank-heavy flexi cap and mid cap holdings are kept, not switched.
